Yes to all of this, of course. AND, even standards need ongoingly relevant content and functional use cases to remain supported — whether by corporate browser developers or open source teams.

We're clearly beyond the tipping point of utility for glTF and 3D models generally — they're super useful for existing ecommerce interaction paradigms, replacing photo shoots for product catalogs, design and manufacturing workflows and other essential business activities.

But the "worlds" of "the Metaverse"? It seems clear we're in a much earlier stage of demonstrating use-value for these, notwithstanding the numerous promising walled-garden approaches to virtual stores, massively-multiplayer game worlds and other examples. Early enough that it seems unclear what candidate open standards for defining these worlds might even be — or are there solid contenders at this point?
